including many years as a college psychiatrist and nutrition consultant at Smith College and Harvard University Health Services, Dr. Georgia Ede was the first psychiatrist to offer nutrition-based approaches as an alternative to conventional care for students, faculty, and staff. She uses nutrition and metabolic interventions, including paleo diets, ketogenic diets, intermittent fasting, and elimination diets, to help people around the world address the root causes of mental health conditions, improving their metabolic health and often reducing their need for psychiatric medications. Dr. Ede speaks internationally about dietary approaches to psychiatric disorders, nutrition science, and nutrition policy reform. She is also the creator and director of the first medically accredited course in ketogenic diets for mental health practitioners. In 2022, she co-authored the first inpatient study of the ketogenic diet for serious mental illnesses and was honored to be named a recipient of the Baszucki Brain Research Fund’s first annual Metabolic Mind Award. Her book Change Your Diet, Change Your Mind was published in 2024.

In 2009 when chronic stress resulted in illness, he stopped his Telecom engineering career and started applying the multidisciplinary systems engineering approach to restore his own health. This led to creation of Sakharoff Health Integrative Protocol (SHIP), a Non-pharmacological Metabolic Approach (NPMA) for fully-measurable reversal of lifestyle disease. His protocol is based on the idea of achieving a synergistic effect of normalising nutrition, breathing and other areas of human physiology together - in one process. In 2018 he wrote a first of its kind paper about synergetic effects of structured Buteyko breathwork and ketogenic nutrition.
In 202 Misha cooperated with Dr. Thomas Seyfried on a case report on 80-month survival of his client with Glioblastoma stage-4 brain tumor with ketogenic metabolic therapy - without chemo or radiation.
Misha has a profound experience of teaching and supporting thousands of his clients in reversing various forms of chronic lifestyle diseases. He creates daily support online-programs that teach people to take full responsibility for their health through education and supported lifestyle change - by giving structure to their daily practices and teaching them how to maintain effective energy. He says that lifestyle-related diseases can not be stopped with medication - that way we can only remove symptoms. To stop and reverse lifestyle-related diseases we need to change the causes and the roots of those conditions.

Thomas N. Seyfried is Professor of Biology at Boston College, and received his Ph.D. in Genetics and Biochemistry from the University of Illinois. Dr. Seyfried served with distinction in the United States Army’s First Cavalry Division during the Vietnam War, and received numerous medals and commendations.Dr. Seyfried published a groundbreaking treatise entitled, Cancer as a Metabolic Disease: On the Origin, Management, and Prevention of Cancer . The treatise provides extensive information showing that cancer can be best defined as a mitochondrial metabolic disease rather than as a genetic disease. This new concept has implications for the development of new non-toxic cancer therapies including the ketogenic diet.

Her husband lost his battle in 2016 and Dr. Newport carries on his legacy as an author of four books and international speaker on ketones as an alternative fuel for the brain. Her fourth book Clearly Keto for Healthy Brain Aging and Alzheimer’s Prevention focuses on a whole food ketogenic Mediterranean-style diet and other lifestyle modifications to help maintain brain health and prevent Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
