We move from Mark's introduction (Mark 1:1-13) and into the beginning of Jesus' ministry of preaching and teaching, and we see at the outset that the gospel is entirely centred on the person, mission and call of Jesus.

1 The Messiah Has Come (Mark 1:1-8)
In the opening verses of Mrk's gospel the ministry of John the Baptist sets the scene, reminding us of the many Old Testament prophecies about Jesus, and helping us to receive him as God’s promised King who has come into the world to save us and will come again to bring justice and peace to the earth.
