At the age of 30, Vanessa had surgery to remove cancer from her small intestine. She had a deep sense that this was a wake-up call and there was something to learn. Soon she came across Qigong, and started learning and practicing this ancient Chinese moving meditation. She began to feel the Qi (life force/energy) moving through her body and experienced a deep sense of calm, which helped her handle her diagnosis with more ease. Vanessa believes this practice works on the whole of her life to improve the health of her body, mind and Qi. She now teaches Qigong and continues to practice every day. Vanessa has now been free of cancer for 20 years.

Are you experiencing grief from your diagnosis? Do your loved ones feel supportive or do they avoid the tough emotional conversations? Tune-in as Liz shares how grief is an emotion that can come with a diagnosis and how to keep your social support system strong enough to help you through it.
The radical remission research shows us that feeling and releasing difficult emotions is important to our health. Some ways to work through big emotions like grief include journaling, talking with a trusted friend, meditation, sitting in quiet reflection, and if needed seek out a therapist - find your best way to allow the emotions to be felt, acknowledged, and then processed so they can leave your body. Click here to get your copy of The Grief Experience book.

Welcome to the Stories That Heal Podcast

The Radical Remission Project “Stories That Heal” Podcast is dedicated to sharing true stories of people who have overcome the odds of their diagnosis and the personal experiences witnessed by their healers. We hope these stories will inspire you to become the leader of your healing journey!

The Radical Remission Project was born out of Kelly A. Turner, PhD’s dissertation research on Radical Remission. As Dr. Turner began the research as part of her PhD from the University of California at Berkeley, she realized that the opinions of two groups of people were typically missing from the 1,000+ cases of radical remissions published in medical journals – the survivors themselves and their alternative healers.

Because conventional medical doctors do not currently have an explanation for why radical remissions’s occur, Dr. Turner decided to ask these two ignored groups what they thought could lead to a radical remission. Her dissertation research involved a trip around the world during which she traveled to over 10 different countries in order to interview Radical Remission survivors and their alternative healers about their modalities for healing cancer. Since then, her research has continued, and Dr. Turner has now analyzed over 1,500 cases of radical remissions, including those using an integrative approach.

The findings of her research are summarized in the New York Times and Amazon bestsellers, Radical Remission and Radical Hope.
