What is Christianity primarily about?  Is it about primarily being the hands and feet of Jesus or listening to Jesus?  Is a successful church busy with all sorts of programs, ministries, and outreach endeavors, whereas a mediocre or failing church sits in the pew?  In episode #4 of "3 Padres and a Shepherd," we will be taking a closer look into Jesus' interaction with two women: Mary and Martha.  We will be asking the question, "Is It O.k. To Be A Pew Sitter?"  Even though the story of Mary and Martha is a very simple story, it has vast application in the realm of the church and into the lives of Christians.  And so, sit back with Mary and enjoy this 4th Episode!

Where do we look for assurance? How do we know that we are saved? Tragically, many pulpits and theologies across America consistently preach the Christian and not the Christ. So, the problem that arises is that we can easily look internally at our actions as Christians for assurance. However, once we look inward, we will never have enough assurance, as the foundation of assurance shifts from Jesus to us. When we end up turning inward - focusing on our life, taking our spiritual temperature, assessing our accomplishments, and becoming fixated on navel-gazing, we become overtaken by what Martin Luther calls the Monster of Uncertainty. In episode #3, we will ask the question, "Is Your Salvation Certain?" with special attention to the age-old battle between imputed and infused righteousness.

You need Jesus. Let us help.

Things aren't easy. There is a lot of suffering and pain in the world. It covers a lot of things. And, at the end, there's death waiting for us. We can wander though this world, lurching from empty pursuit to vain pleasure and back again. Or we can leave the rat race of human existence by looking to the One who has actually done just that: Jesus Christ. Unlike us, His work stands forever. What we make passes away; what He makes endures unto eternity.

And what did He do? He grants life, mercy, and salvation for you at the cost of His own life and ensures them by His own character. For you.

This podcast gives weekly sermons and messages from Pastor Chris Brademeyer of St. John's Lutheran Church of Oakes, ND. We promise nothing more or less than eternal life, forgiveness, and mercy in the living Lord, Jesus Christ.
