"To Plant, Or Not to Plant "
Ah, and that is the question. And that’s exactly why we put our two favorite agronomists in the same room (warehouse) to talk shop (agronomy) in this special early release of the GROW Podcast. Join Landus Technical Agronomy and Precision Lead, Dan Bjorklund and special guest, Landus Account Lead (and your 2024 Iowa Certified Crop Adviser of the Year), Dave Lemke in this special release, recorded in the Gowrie, IA seed warehouse.
Highlights:
•Are you planting over this weekend (04/12 – 04/14)?
•Hear the things these agronomists are looking forward to and things they’re weary about out for this planting season.
•There’s always a headline disease or insect in the growing year, and it could be a few things we haven’t seen in quite some time this year.
•Agility will be crucial in dealing with the unknown variables that will be dealing with weather, disease conditions, and such.
•The prescription from the virtual agronomist (Dan) is: apply AcreEdge CropLift early and often.
Their bottom line message: Make sure you don’t screw it up! And always call your GROW Solutions Center when you have questions.

Think of the most intriguing questions in ag. Does it have to do with sustainability? Labor? Succession planning? The bad news is that these are just a few of the topics that farmers are asking themselves. The good news is that Landus is hosting farmers to its Des Moines Connector to answer these questions and so many more on April 3 & 4.
Brooke Blessington from LANDWERX hosts this special release of the GROW Podcast. Join Brooke Blessington, LANDWERX Innovation Hub Director, and three guests who are showing their technology, solutions, and (of course) innovation. If you’re interested in attending the Innovation Connector events, register at www.Landus.ag.

Have You Checked Your Grain Bins? | GROW Podcast
Tuesday Mar 19, 2024
Tuesday Mar 19, 2024
Spring break just ended and school is back in session. Join special guest, Charles Hurburgh, Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, Professor at Iowa State University as he and Ashley Kaldenberg discuss the best practices to keep stored grain healthy before you sell.
Highlights:
- We’ve been on the upswing in the market. The saying is “reward the rally.” Sell while the market is going up.
- Ideally, you cool grain immediately after harvest.
- Generally, you’ll store below 40ºF, and freezing is OK
- Take your center cores out! Evaluating your middle cores for humidity, moisture, and mold progression helps you gauge when you need to sell
- As a rule of thumb, grain should be under moisture levels of 17%

Your Eye in the Sky

If you could know what every individual plant needed to succeed, you’d likely take that information and provide appropriate nutrients and protections to those plants. Now imagine that you have an avian business partner that takes to the sky for an hour every other week, and scans for deficiencies and areas of improvement at the plant level. Your little bird can give you distinct data so you can, “make decisions based on fact rather than feeling.” Landus SkyScout powered by Taranis provides this exact situation to farmers... except your winged, feathered business partner is a qualified agronomy expert armed with the modern technology of drone sensors and lenses.
In this episode of the GROW Podcast, Landus Director of GROW Agronomy, John Finneseth, hosts Taranis Vice President of Customer Success, Pablo Bruzzoni; and Taranis Customer Success Representative, Corey Edge to talk about how SkyScout provides farmers with data gathered just a few feet in the air can break the boundaries of what we thought was possible for ag-data.

Making Your Voice Heard | Rural Matters
Tuesday Feb 20, 2024

The cooperative model is based on doing for the farmer what they can’t do themselves. Although Landus has outgrown the mold of what traditional cooperative can do, we remain committed to representing farmer goals and values. One of the more underrepresented settings of farmers is none other than our state capital in Des Moines and Capitol Hill in D.C.
This week’s GROW Podcast is hosted by Landus Vice President of External Affairs, and Rural Matters author, Elizabeth Burns-Thompson; with Landus Business Development Lead, Brian Crowe. Together, they tackle what topics are bearing the most weight for Iowa and American farmers.

What Makes Agronomy Fun | GROW Podcast
Tuesday Feb 06, 2024
Tuesday Feb 06, 2024
When the season starts, farmers formulate a “game plan.” A plan that they curate with the help of their agronomists on what outcomes are likely to occur throughout the growing and harvest seasons. Last year presented challenges that we knew would present hardships. However, in every game plan lies an area of uncertainty. According to Landus Technical Agronomy and Precision Lead, Dan Bjorklund, “that’s what makes agronomy fun.”
In this episode of the GROW Podcast, Landus Optimization and Procurement Lead, John King, delivers his market updates and talks with Dan about the challenges that lie ahead for 2024.
Technology and innovative solutions will be key to conquering the 2024 obstacles, so be sure to attend one of our Innovation Connector events that will be happening later this March.
