The answer to the question is "nothing". There are reasons why God allows us to go through trials and suffering - we need to persevere, so that we may enjoy His blessing which is certainly coming.

"God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God" (verse 28). A fantastic promise, but what does it mean? And if this is the case, why is life sometimes so difficult?

We can all suffer discouragement, even very successful people suffer it sometimes. The key is to persevere - gardeners and farmers have to wait a significant time for the harvest, but if we are faithful, the harvest will come.

Bethel is part of the Old Baptist Union (OBU). To mark "OBU Sunday", our former pastor speaks on "Body, soul and spirit". Body, soul and spirit are like the legs of a three-legged stool - we need all three in order to balance. In our fallen world, how often we emphasise one at the expense of another.
